About us

A school without walls, in Bissau-Velho.

WILTTEN GB is a non-governmental organization dedicated to education and training in Guinea-Bissau. We work in borrowed classrooms, workshops and yards — wherever people are.

Mission

To give children, young people and adults in Guinea-Bissau access to basic education and to training that turns into work.

Vision

A Guinea-Bissau where nobody goes without learning to read, or without a trade, because of where they were born.

How it works

From enrolment to a first job

Courses are short, practical, and free or at a token cost. Every class has one trainer in charge and a limited number of places.

The path is the same for every course: enrolment, classes, practice, certificate, and follow-up after the course.

  1. 1

    Enrolment

In person or by email. No entrance exam.

  2. 2

    Classes

Two to four sessions a week, at hours that fit around work.

  3. 3

    Practice

Workshop, bench or computer — most of the hours are hands-on.

  4. 4

    Certificate

Issued at the end of the course with the trainer's assessment.

  5. 5

    Follow-up

Help finding work or starting a small business.

Who we work with

  • Children out of school or struggling in it
  • Young people without vocational training
  • Adults who never had the chance to learn to read
  • Schools, families and neighbourhood leaders
How we work

Four simple rules

Close
Inside the neighbourhoods, not from an office.
Practical
What is learned today is used tomorrow.
For everyone
Age, gender and money are not entry criteria.
In the open
A licensed organization; we answer to those who support us.
